It works

It works. The fish gets minimal injury. Little need to get used to, but then a slight movement of the hand the fish should remain free
Works some times

I was very hopeful that this quick release would work as easily as described. I've found it hit or miss. When it works, it works really well. But some times it just doesn't release the fly at all. With barbless hooks, it's going to work the best. With larger hooks, it's going to work the best too from my experience. The only advantage I've found over regular forceps is that when it works it's great in the winter. You don't have to get the hand wet at all. And it tends not to damage the fly like forceps can. However, I have found that because the fly slides into the "tube," it can still crush the fly some. Wish it worked as slick as they claim. I think your mileage will vary. Also, I didn't find that I felt using this release protected my tippet much. I don't use it unless I'm using relatively strong tippet.
