These are a must if you have vibram soles and do a lot of hiking over slippery logs and such, although if you are in a river with large slippery rocks/boulders I would suggest the aluminum style.I use both on my boots just swap them out when needed.

These have great grip and after two years still have plenty of bite. I took away one star because they have the tendency to fall out, but I guess that is the boots fault?
